Chrysler Newport

The Newport was a name used by Chrysler for both a hardtop body designation and also for its lowest priced model between 1961 and 1981. Chrysler first used the Newport name on a 1940 show car of which five vehicles were produced. The first/original Newport had an in-line 8 cylinder engine. The last (1981) was available with either an in-line 6 cylinder or V-8 engine. There were several body styles over the years, this photo is only ONE option. Chrysler discontinued them after 1950 until 1961. The last one was built in 1981. Model pictured is a 1970 2 door.
