1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 'Eleanor'

12 Variants

This model represented the 1973 Ford Mustang (actually a 1971 Ford Mustang with a 1973 front grille) which appeared in the 1974 film Gone in 60 Seconds where it was code-named Eleanor and stolen by lead character Maindrian Pace (Toby “HB” Halicki). The model was produced to coincide with the release of the 2000 remake starring Nicolas Cage.

Produced from all-new tooling, the model featured opening doors, hood and trunk as well as operating steering. The rear was fitted with a correct blue and yellow California license plate decal reading 614HSO while the front carried an “Eleanor” vanity plate.

The model is not quite authentic to the car’s appearance in the film; it has a “Mach 1” stripe decal to the rear where the real car has a fully blacked-out panel, the steering wheel is a 3-spoke wood rim wheels as opposed to two-spoke plastic and the shade of yellow it is finished in is slightly too pale. It was also issued as a model kit.
