Built in a span of 24 weeks, the Deora II was created by Chip Foose and Five-Axis, with the endeavor funded by Mothers' Wax. The base vehicle from construction was a Cadillac Deville DTS, a vehicle selected for its FWD drivetrain setup that could be readily converted to the back of the vehicle. The final body was constructed with fiberglass.

The vehicle was previewed at SEMA and made its debut at the Hot Wheels Hall of Fame Gala at the hands of Carson Lev and Jay Leno. After its temporary residence in the Petersen Automotive Museum, the vehicle has been used numerous times for miscellaneous Hot Wheels events and resides primarily in the Hot Wheels Garage in El Segundo.

Much like its appearances in Hot Wheels animation, the real life car features a front opening hatch to provide entry to a driver and passenger.
