Known as the "Nuova 500" to distinguish it from the previous Fiat 500, ( known by the nickname of "Topolino" ) the "500" is one of the best selling models in the history of the Italian brand . The model was produced under license by other manufacturers so the number of units produced could be considered greater than the estimates. The shapes of the model have inspired the Fiat 500 of 2007.
