Ford EcoBoost

EcoBoost is a marketing name for turbocharged, direct-injection petrol engines designed by Ford, produced by Ford and co-developed by German company FEV Engineering. Ford owns rights to produce this engine and has named it the EcoBoost engine. EcoBoost-equipped engines are designed to deliver horsepower and torque consistent with those of larger-displacement (cylinder volume), naturally aspirated engines, which Ford claims can achieve about 30% better fuel efficiency and 15% fewer greenhouse emissions. Ford sees the EcoBoost technology as less costly and more versatile than further-developing or expanding the use of hybrid and diesel engine technologies. As such, Ford intends to use EcoBoost extensively, across a broad range of vehicle product lines.

It is built in three versions, an inline 3 cylinder, an inline 4 cylinder, & a V-6 (pictured). The EcoBoost was first released in 2010. All versions are turbocharged.
