Ford F-100 XL

Custom built drag racing truck from Ford Racing. Based on a 1963 uni-body Ford F-100 pickup truck, it was powered by the 427 SOHC engine. It raced in B/FX (B/Factory Expermiental) class and ran the quarter mile in the mid-12 second range at approximately 110 M.P.H.

This interesting truck was built by Dearborn Steel Tubing in 1963 and raced successfully in the B/FX factory experimental class. Dearborn Steel Tubing had a hand in many of Ford's racing cars of the '60s including factory lightweight Galaxies, Fairlane Thunderbolts, and even rally Falcons. They even offered this as a conversion package from DST for $3400, but it appears unlikely that more than one was ever built.

Popular Hot Rodding Magazine featured the truck in their August 1964 issue. Hemmings Muscle Machines also featured the truck in one of their issues.
