The 1967 Thunderbird abandoned the unibody construction method used previously for a body-on-frame design. It was also the first Thunderbird not to be available as a convertible and the first to be offered with a four-door version. The platform continued until 1971, but with major frontal restyling in 1970 to add a large beak-like front grille.
