Red Line Club sELECTIONs Series debuted in 2004 as was a first of its kind allowing collectors at HotWheelsCollectors.com the opportunity to vote for 4 cars in a series and essentially vote each element of the casting to create a production model based on the popular vote.
The second of four rounds in 2009 was A Redline Era Favorite. The final two cars were Gremlin Grinder and Beatnik Bandit. With 51% of the final vote Beatnik Bandit pulled it out. Members selected Spectraflame antifreeze for the finish and Neo-Classics Redlines in the wheel selection. This one was the clear winner ... right??? Wrong .... The Beatnik Bandit was unable to be produced for some technical reason. A replacement bracket with 2 cars (SS Express and Gremlin Grinder) was used to determine the replacement casting. The Gremlin Grinder got 52% of the vote & the SS Express got 48% of the vote. However; the color and wheels selected by the members remained unchanged.
