When the smoke cleared after voting for the RLC sELECTIONs Hot Wheels Original Designs bracket, members had taken advantage of their first-ever opportunity to choose a retool. Long-awaited by collectors, the Open Fire joined the HWC 2008 RLC sELECTIONs line as its fourth and final car of the year! First — and last — seen in 1972, this casting designed by Paul Tam is based on a 1973 AMC Gremlin. Finally voted back to life by RLC members, it was decided that the first release of this casting in over 35 years would be enrobed in Spectraflame dark red, and it would feature Neo-Classics Redline wheels. Beautifully retooled, this Redline era classic returned with blistering graphics by none other than Wayne Scott!
