Goodnight Vienna followed the commercially successful predecessor Ringo. Ringo used many of the same players, including Billy Preston, Klaus Voormann, Robbie Robertson, Harry Nilsson, and producer Richard Perry. The title is a Liverpool slang phrase meaning it's all over."
