Saab 9000 Aero

The manual gearbox Saab 9000 Aero was the flagship of the Saab range. It was the only model in the 9000 family to feature the powerful Mitsubishi TD04 turbocharger (automatic cars were fitted with the smaller Garrett AiResearch T25 unit due to the fragility of the automatic transmission). The 9000 Aero became notorious when it was discovered that the car would accelerate from 50 to 80mph faster than either a Ferrari Testarossa or a Porsche 911 Carrera 4. It was discontinued in 1997, two years before the rest of the 9000 range was replaced by the 9-5.
