TVR Sports Saloon

This used TVR's first "series production" chassis.  Advertised at 650 GBP, the cars were offered as fully-built cars, ready-to-assemble kits, or rolling-chassis.  The multi-tubular chassis (1.5" diameter steel tubing with 16-gauge walls) was built and designed by TVR, with major suspension components and drivetrain borrowed from the Austin A40.   However, other drivetrains were available, depending on customers' desires, including the Ford 100E, MG TF 1500, MGA, and the 2-1/2 litre Lea-Francis.  Approximately 20 chassis were delivered in various build configurations.  According to early records, 3 were fitted with an RGS Atalanta fiberglass coupe-style bodyshell (Sports Saloon), while a few other chassis had open bodyshells supplied by RGS, Rochdale, and Microplas.
