Unlike the other Klumps who are overweight, Ernie instead opted to gain muscle mass instead of pure fat, even advising Sherman to do the same so that he could eat without worrying about his weight problem. He is also very dim-witted compared to the other Klumps as he often asks dumb questions. For example when Sherman's Youth Formula causes Petey to become a giant hamster, Ernie was wondering if that was supposed to happen, much to the annoyance of Cletus who knows from experience that it wasn't.
