Mario Lemieux is a former Pittsburgh Penguin center and member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Often referred to as the "Magnificent One," "Le Magnifique" or "Super Mario," Lemieux retired in 2006 either owning or sharing at least 34 NHL records. Pittsburgh drafted Lemieux with the first overall pick in the 1984 draft. He'd go on to lead the Penguins to Stanley Cup victories in 1991 and 1992. Lemieux finished No. 8 all-time on the NHL points list, that despite missing time to battle Hodgkins Lymphoma and a three-year retirment between 1997 and 2000. All told, Lemieux scored 247 goals and tallied 562 career points. He also steered Team Canada to a gold medal at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. The Hockey Hall of Fame inducted Lemieux in 1997.
