"Auto-Steer" was a designation given to certain Matchbox Miniatures models made by Lesney in 1968 and 1969.
These models differed from others by having a special steering feature which enabled the models to be steered to the left or right by simply applying pressure with one's hand.

(The 8E Ford Mustang, which had a different, more complicated steering mechanism with a lever and had already been introduced in 1966, was also regarded as part of the Auto-Steer sub series once it existed.)
E type boxes of these models highlighted this feature with a small drawing on the front faces and an additional white stripe on the end flaps, while F type boxes had the "Auto-Steer" name printed on the front faces and end flaps - in the same locations where the "Superfast" name would be found on the boxes of the first Superfast models.
It was the introduction of Superfast wheels and chassis which put a premature end to the Auto-Steer feature, as it was not compatible with those.
