In 2013, Ford introduced the replacement for the Crown Vic Police/Taxi/Fleet vehicles, which were discontinued in 2011. For Police, the new vehicle is called the Ford Police Interceptor Sedan. It uses the Ford Taurus body, but the engine, drivetrain and handling components are from the Mustang line.
2012 was the interim year when Ford was still refining the new prototype. This model year is considered a Taurus.
