The Ferrari F40 is a casting based on the actual car of the same name, of which only 1,311 samples of the full-sized vehicle were built. The F40 is known for having an opening rear end, which produces a rather unsightly gap between the rear and the main body. Opening the rear end allows for viewing of the engine. In 2014, an entirely new tooling for the F40 was created in the middle of the Ferrari 5-Pack's production run likely due to cost-cutting; it no longer has an opening rear end, is wider than the original casting, has shallower air ducts on the side, has closed up headlights, a completely new rear window piece, a completely new interior piece and has a plastic base in place of the original metal one. Because of this, it is possible to find two variations of the 2014 Ferrari 5-Pack, one with the F40 with the opening rear and the other without.
