55 PP Teddy Bear

Created by Steiff in 1902 based off of Richard Steiff's design, the 55 PP made its debut at the Leipzig Toy Fair in 1903 and is considered one of the world's first "teddy" bears. There were 3,000 of them ordered, but no record of them reaching the United States has ever been discovered. Steiff re-created the bear (pictured here), which is now on display in its museum in Geingen, Germany.
