Thanks to its 480 foot-pounds of torque and 375 horsepower, the '70 Plymouth Superbird could go from 0 to 60 in just under 6 seconds. However, a more expensive version of the 426 Hemi engine increased horsepower to 425 and lowered the 0 to 60 acceleration time to just 4.8 seconds. Production of this car lasted only 1 year. Plymouth made 93 cars with the Hemi engine and produced only 1,920 Superbirds overall. Fortunately the limited numbers had nothing to do with performance, as this car did manage a triumphant win at the 1970 Daytona 500.
