What'd I Say pin is an American rhythm and blues song by Ray Charles, released in 1959, it was one of the first soul songs.  After his run of R&B hits, this song finally broke Charles into mainstream pop music and itself sparked a new subgenre of R&B titled soul.  The gospel and rhumba influences combined with the sexual innuendo in the song made it not only widely popular but very controversial to both white and black audiences. It earned Ray Charles his first gold record and has been one of the most influential songs in R&B and rock and roll history. For the rest of his career, Charles closed every concert with the song.

Ray Charles’ “What’d I Say” is known for being quite-risqué, particularly in light of the era it was released in. Back in those days stating that a particular lady ‘knows how to shake her thing’ was obviously not as common as it is now. So basically, what this classic is most recognized for is the sensual innuendos contained therein.

Pin features a sexy voluptuous woman in a red dress with piano keys behind her.  To the lower right are other women and the words What'd I Say in black letters.  2021 on the red banner at the top of the pin and the Hard Rock logo at the bottom of the pin.

Back of pin says "Limited Edition 200."
