- This reverse type celebrates the recovery of the legionary standards lost to the Parthians during the campaigns of Crassus and Mark Antony in 53 and 36 BCE. In 20 BCE, Augustus embarked on a tour of the eastern provinces while his stepson Tiberius led a large army into Armenia. The Parthians, who were having dynastic difficulties at the time, returned the Roman standards as part of diplomaric agreement that was reached at this time.
