Auto-Union Type A Renncoupé 1935

Before the start of the 1935 race season, the Auto Union Type B racing car made a world record attempt.  Fitted with aerodynamic cladding and a plexiglas cover over the driver's compartment, Hans Stuck set a world record for 1 mile with flying start at a speed of 320 km/h. This broke the previous record, which had been set just three months earlier by Rudolf Caracciola in a Mercedes.
