The second edition of Eaton’s Vice Lord, the crimson red edition evokes the spirit of the sculpt which he describes as the ‘patron saint of self destruction’. The free-flowing figure is rich with symbolism from a life led on the thrilling, decadent edge. As with his murals, Eaton juxtaposes varied references from cultural symbols to well-known idioms (‘burning the candle at both ends). Stylistically inspired by Japanese robots and anime, the Blood Lord is a creative self-portrait of the artist’s past.
