1934 Bugatti Type 59

The Bugatti T59 was expensive to maintain and unreliable compared to Mercedes and Auto Union.  Few privateers were interested in buying them because they simply were not competitive.

Brumm labelled this car of 1933 vintage on the packaging.  The racer made its debut at the last major Grand Prix of that season - Spain - but #4 crashed in practice.  The #18 finished 4th and the #26 came in 6th.  At the Belgian GP 1934, Rene Dreyfus achieved the first of the T59's five GP wins and the only one carrying the #4.  Perhaps that's the date Brumm should have highlighted. The 'holes' in the chassis point to this being a 1934 configuration anyway.
