Online version of grand opening pin for Hard Rock Checkpoint Charlie Rock Shop. This version has silver base material and a mainly gold front.
Checkpoint Charlie was the best-known crossing point between East and West Berlin during the era of the Berlin Wall (1961-1989). The checkpoint has since become a major tourist attraction.
Pin is 3D textured, featuring the checkpoint guardhouse in gold at center, fronted by a wall of gold sandbags. In foreground at left and right are gold vertical guitars, tilted away from center.
Background is a dark blue shield with silver stars and a thick silver border. Along border are red gems. At top center is a silver crown with a larger red gem.
Above guardhouse is a gold rectangle with the words "Rock Shop" in black capital letters. At bottom of pin is a gold banner with the words "Grand Opening" in black capital letters. At center of banner, between "Grand" and "Opening," is a black bear on a white shield, representing the Berlin coat of arms. The year 2020 appears at top center of guardhouse in black, but this pin was not released until 2021.
This version was sold only in the Online Rock Shop, not at the Hard Rock Checkpoint Charlie Rock Shop.
Back of pin says "Limited Edition 200."
