Cyrus Redblock was a gangster in the Dixon Hill holonovels that Picard enjoyed for recreation. Redblock demonstrated the potential dangers of the holodeck when an accident shut off safety protocols, and one of his men shot an Enterprise crewmember. Later Redblock emerged into the ship's corridor, where he determined that he was part of something far greater than himself.
