1924 Fowler 'Big Lion' Showman's Engine

Alternative Name: 1914-1934 Fowler B6 Showman's Steam Engine
2 Variants

A showman's engine is a steam-powered vehicle used by 20th Century carnivals to  transport equipment and provide power for rides and lighting.  This ornate Matchbox toy was a source of visual delight for young collectors but wasn't a big seller in the USA where engines such as this were less common.  That the Fowler cost more than other Yesteryears didn't help matters either.  One of the first series of Yesteryears, it remained in production for ten years and was replaced by Y9-2 1912 Simplex.
