Freddie for a Week Guitar Pick (Hotel Clone)

Charity guitar pick clone featuring Freddie Mercury (1946-1991), lead singer of the rock band Queen, who died of complications from AIDS.

For this global series, some locations received clones with location names. Other locations received nearly identical clones with no location name. The clones with no location name came in two versions, one for cafes and one for hotels. The only difference between the two is the Hard Rock Cafe or Hard Rock Hotel logo on the front of the pin. This pin is the hotel version with no location name.

Pin promotes the Freddie for a Week initiative, an HIV and AIDS fundraising campaign that encourages people to dress up as Mercury during the week of his birthday, September 5. Hard Rock hosted Freddie events in 2019 at many locations worldwide.

Mercury is shown in one of his famous poses, looking downward, right fist high over his head. From his final tour with Queen in 1986, he is wearing his iconic yellow jacket, a white tank top, and white trousers with dark red and yellow vertical stripes. In his left hand is a black microphone. Background is light blue vertical stripes that look like a stage curtain.

Hard Rock Hotel logo is at bottom center. Brand name is in white letters, on a silver circle with a white border.

Back of pin says "Limited Edition" and does not state quantity.

Sold on a yellow backing card with embossed yellow lettering. Back of card says 10% of sales will benefit the Mercury Phoenix Trust, founded by Queen and its manager to fight the battle against HIV and AIDS.

The four hotels that sold this clone with no location name were Biloxi, Hollywood FL, Orlando and San Diego.
