This 500K is a rare version of Tourenwagen, a tourer with two doors and four seats.   Monument of the Mercedes range thirties, the 500K was reserved for a very wealthy clientele eager for performance, luxury and exceptional comfort.   The 500K is powered by a supercharged eight-cylinder five-liter, 160 hp, production began in 1934 until 1936 and was produced in 354 units. The letter K does not mean Kurz (short wheelbase) but compressor.   The Tourenwagen with its four spacious seats and two doors is built on the chassis to normal wheel base of 3.29 meters. Sixteen wheelbase will be equipped with this body.   Delivered in Poland in 1935, 113,663 party then in Africa and is found in the sixties in Namibia. Daimler-Benz acquired it in 1970 in a very good original condition, but mechanics was no longer functional. It was therefore submitted that statically at exhibitions. A few years later its complete restoration is decided by the Stuttgart museum. It will be conducted in two stages: first the mechanical and bodywork and interior. The 500 K Tourenwagen has since used by Mercedes to take part in various concentrations. There remains little Tourenwagen nowadays, it is a true and rare car collection.
