Keiko O'Brien, nee Ishikawa, was a botanist assigned to the U.S.S Enterprise, where she met Chief Miles O'Brien. The two fell in love and were married. Ishikawa also played clarinet in the ship's woodwind quintet. Shortly after the birth of their daughter, Molly, the family transferred to the Bajoran sector to live on the recently surrendered Cardassian space station, Deep Space Nine.
