The D50 is the only Lancia ever built for Formula 1. The racing cars had the characteristic of being lighter of competitors. Many drivers believe in the quality of the car but the death of Alberto Ascari and some economic problems of the Lancia convinced the property to hand over the project, the car and spare parts to Ferrari.
