The Lancia's racing department manager, Cesare Fiorio had the green light to develop the Fulvia HF despite the risicate financial resources. The result was the Rallye 1.6 HF, also called "Fanalone " because of the pair of headlights innermost larger than the outside. The "Fanalone" allowed Lancia to win numerous rallies and the World Rally Championship in 1972.
