Part of the 2021 License Plate Series, sold exclusively in the Online Rock Shop. Pins are the same design concept as the global Core License Plate Series, which launched in 2015 and was largely discontinued by the time these online pins debuted.
The 2021 online series consists of three limited edition pins, each representing a Hard Rock location that opened or expanded in 2019 or 2020. Each pin is a rectangular motor vehicle license plate featuring the letters "HRD RCK" in black, in front of an iconic local image.
Berlin Checkpoint Charlie pin features the checkpoint guardhouse in white and army green, fronted by a wall of beige sandbags. Checkpoint Charlie was the best-known crossing point between East and West Berlin during the era of the Berlin Wall (1961-1989). The checkpoint has since become a major tourist attraction. In each corner of pin are small Hard Rock Cafe logos. At top center, in red capital letters, is the location name (Checkpoint Charlie). At bottom center, also in red capital letters, is the city name (Berlin). Hard Rock Checkpoint Charlie Rock Shop opened on August 28, 2020.
Pin was sold only in the Online Rock Shop, not at Hard Rock Checkpoint Charlie Rock Shop.
Back of pin does not state "Limited Edition" or quantity. Online Rock Shop product page says pin is Limited Edition 300.
