Landmark design of the Lions Gate Bridge, which opened in 1938 and is a designated National Historic Site of Canada. It is a three reversible lane suspension bridge that crosses the first narrows of Burrard Inlet and connects Vancouver to the North Shore. *********Lions Gate****** refers to a pair of mountain peaks north of Vancouver as well as a pair of large concrete lions, designed by sculptor Charles Marega that stand on either side of the south approach of the bridge.
