Mighty Maverick

Subvariant title: 2012 RLC sELECTIONs
41 Variants
It was a very close race for the second RLC sELECTIONs edition of 2012 (but on blister was 1 of 2) — but the Street Snorter prevailed. However, Mattel discovered that the tool was unavailable, so we released the Mighty Maverick with opening hood! Not exactly a downgrade, is it?   To follow this casting's twisted history, you have to start in 1970 with the Mighty Maverick as designed by Howard Rees. With an opening hood and a spoiler in the back, it was issued for a couple of years. In 1973, the first year of the enamel era, the casting lost the rear spoiler and was renamed the Street Snorter. In 1975, the casting was issued again without the spoiler, but as the Mighty Maverick — and lost the opening hood. Fast forward to 2003, and HWC retooled the original Mighty Maverick configuration with opening hood and rear spoiler. A few years later, the 1975 Mighty Maverick configuration (no rear spoiler, no opening hood) was issued to RLC members as a Rewards Priority car — but named the Street Snorter. The original Street Snorter configuration has still not been seen since 1973. If you're keeping score, that is.   A mere 2,400 of these were made !
