Monteverdi 375/4

The Monteverdi 375/4 was a luxury sedan built by Monteverdi from 1971 to 1973 and part of the Monteverdi High Speed range. The car had a 7,206 cc Chrysler V-8 engine.

The car, built by the Italian coachbuilder Fissore, was based on a lengthened chassis of the 375L four-seater coupe. Its wheelbase was 3150 mm, which allowed for a spacious and very luxurious interior. The cars were equipped with leather seats, air condition, electric window lifts, and optionally a Sony TV set. At least 13 cars were made between 1971 and 1973, and probably some more in the following years. Many of them were sold to Arab countries, others to Britain, Australia and Japan. Peter Monteverdi reportedly offered the 375/4 to the Swiss government as a state car, but the Federal Counsellors were not interested – they used Cadillacs in the 1970s.

The chassis of the cars were always built at the Monteverdi factory in Binningen near Basel, and then transported to Italy for the final assembly.
