Monument Series #1 - Green Lion Head Guitar

Depicts the head of the two bronze lion statues that stand at the front of the Chicago Art Institute, just south on Michigan Ave from the Hotel. #1 in the monument series, it was released late December or early January. Sculptor Edward Kemeys (1843-1907), is responsible for the famous lions that have flanked the entrance since 1894. A Chicago resident at the time they were sculpted in 1893, he exhibited twelve sculptures at the 1893 Worlds Colombian Exposition in Chicago. For the most part, he was a self-taught artist.
