While Moskvitch's big sellers were made at the main factory, some lesser models, like this estate were assembled at the smaller IZH-factory, where they also specialized in 'rural' versions (sturdier and simpler) of cars for the home market.

Tantal launched this model in 1977... very unfortunate, because models from exactly this period were particularly troubled by rushed production methods and metal impurities, leading to a number of problems, including zinc pest, whish is this model's big achilles heel. Extreme caution is therefore adviced when buying.
