Native American Thunderbird and Orca

Native American artwork pin depicting the Pacific Coastal tribe legend of thunderbird and orca (killer whale). The Pacific Northwest region of the United States has a strong Native American or American Indian heritage, which includes Seattle being named after a local tribal chief.

In many Native American cultures, the mythical thunderbird is a supernatural bird of power and strength. According to regional legend, orca endangered the humans by eating all of the salmon. Thunderbird then defeated orca in a titanic battle that restored the salmon runs and saved the tribes.

This pin is an artist rendering of thunderbird flying away with defeated orca in its talons. Both creatures are presented in traditional native colors of red, white, light blue and black.

Year (2019) appears horizontally on right side of pin in antique silver on red. Hard Rock Cafe logo is at lower left of pin with brand name in red on a dark blue circle. City name is at bottom of logo in antique silver on a light blue semicircle.

Back of pin says "Limited Edition 350" and does not state manufacturer. Cafe staff say manufacturer is Pin USA.
