Oh, 1972, how we loved you. A burger at Mickey D's would set you back about a quarter, gasoline cost a mere 35¢ a gallon, and $2,500 was all it took to get your muscle car on with the Plymouth Duster. The Hot Wheels "spoilers" style version joined the HWC Series Eight Real Riders editions as the Plymouth Duster Thruster!
Based on the "spoilers" styles of the '70s originally designed by Ira Gilford, we first offered the Plymouth Duster Thruster in the Since '68 lineup. But we couldn't let a good thing go, so we brought it back for HWC Series Eight, and treated it right with a Spectraflame purple finish and Real Riders five-spoke wheels with red stripes. Finished with white stripes on the sides, silver tampo with "Plymouth" on the door and "Duster" on the front fender, and a white license plate with "California" in red and "THRSTR" in blue.
