The Plaza was a direct entry level Plymouth, but despite the restrained amount of trim and single colours it was still a very attractive automobile. In 1956 over 43,000 Club Sedans found buyers. 1956 also saw a break with tradition. A jet plane style hood ornament replaced the Mayflower sailing ship emblem that had appeared on every previous model since 1928.
