"Tattoo you" was a surprise runaway hit album. Why? Because it was made up of outtakes, some of which went back to the early '70's. This is their last LP to reach Number 1 on the Billboard Charts. The earliest of songs used were "Tops" & "Waiting on A Friend", which both featured Mick Taylor and not Ron Wood. Some songs dated back to when ths Stones were trying out new guitarists to replace Mick Taylor. That's why Wayne Perkins plays lead on "Worried About You". "Start Me Up" which went to number one on the singles chart was originally title, "Never Never Stop" and had a reggae beat. Tattoo you was #1 for 9 weeks. The LP was released in Vinyl, Cassette, 8-Track and CD formats. All songs by Jagger/Richards except: "Black Limousine" & No Use In Crying" by Jagger/Richards/Wood. Trivia: In the "Waiting for a Friend" video, Keith is walking down the street and stops to chat with Mick who is holding court on the steps of brownstone. Keith shakes one of Mick's friend's hands. It is Peter Tosh. Peter was the first musician signed to Rolling Stones Records and had a big hit with "You Got to Walk(and Don't look Back)".
