Roman Provincial, Tiberius(?) (14 - 37 AD) AE Unit, Heraclea Salbace mint

  • Obverse: ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ, Bare head of Tiberius facing right.
  • Reverse: ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝΙΟΣ ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝΙΟΥ ΗΡΑΚΛΕΩΤΩΝ,  Heracles walking, left, with arm extended and holding club

  • Issued by Apollonios Apolloniou, Magistrate.
  • It is not certain if this coin is correctly attributed to Augustus or Tiberius.  When BMC was compiled it was identified as Augustus but more recent study finds that it is more likely an issue of Tiberius.
