On this coin and RPC I 2910, the animal has been variously described as a wolf (KM 264; AMC), a lynx (BMC), a lion or a panther (SNG Copenhagen), or a panther (SNG von Aulock). A wolf seems the likeliest and presumably is a pun on the Lykos river.
