Lotus Elan S2

Although this looks just like the silver-blue Elan or the white one for Mrs Peel, it is quite different, featuring a removable chassis, just like the 319 hard top. It would normally only have been supplied in Gift Set 37 - the Lotus Racing set - where you could swap chasses from one to the other. (I could never quite see the appeal as the cars looked identical afterwards but never mind.)

This would have come with a racing driver with a blue cap.

Not many of these are around. This is in fine condition, with just a chip on the nearside wing but otherwise excellent. The red interior is unique to this version. I think they all should have normal wheels but, as the chassis can be easily changed, you may encounter one with cast wheels, as supplied with #319 in boxes (but probably not in GS37).

I remember being disappointed with my own #319 not having suspension. Of course, knowing now how poor the other #318 suspension would prove to be, the solid chassis is probably preferable!
