This good old lorry came along in 1957 and lasted all the way through to 1963. It was quite similar to an ERF lorry that would have been around at the same time. I wonder how many children now would be interested in having both? Then, however, I can remember lorries being really popular and one friend used to watch all the lorries going in and out of some gravel pits nearby and he could identify each and every one in great detail. There were two colours of cab but I think the load area was always silver. This has the reversed shaped wheels and is probably a later model. The windows are nice and clear and the silver paint is excellent. There are a few chips on the blue but generally this looks brilliant. These lorries are, of course, a little small in comparison to the cars and vans, being made to a scale of 1:56. They look fine on their own or amongst like models, though.

About this Collectible

Item Condition:
Very Good
Packaging Condition:
None
Condition Notes:

Starting to obtain examples of the trucks and lorries, this is a nice early model. The flatbed lasted from 1957 to 1965. Strangely, Corgi already had the Commer %T from the year before and there’s not a great deal of difference between that and this ERF Model 44G.

Lorries were, I think, more important to kids then, so maybe varieties of lorries were just as necessary as cars for some.

The ERF was always in this nice combination of light and dark blue, with fixed wheels which may become shaped hubs in late editions.

It is not uncommon but not many have survived well. This has good windows, very little paint loss, really only along the platform edges. The wheels and tyres are excellent and the base rust free. Nice.
