Matchbox Museum

Matchbox Museum

Jean Birsens has been collecting MATCHBOX cars, "the car in the matchbox", since 1980. His collection comprises around 23,700 models dating from 1947-2023. There are mainly exhibits of the brands Early Lesney, Regular Wheels, Models of Yesteryear, Major Packs, King-Size, Accessory Packs etc. Ancient packaging art and much more is also displayed.

Jean's wife Meg is also a collector. She has a collection of almost 2,000 pretty tin boxes mainly from  the years 1880 to 1950. Meg's preference is for „figural biscuit tins“ from Huntley & Palmers, Peak Frean, William Crawford Olibet and Stollwerck. You can also admire numerous vintage Barbie dolls in the museum.
