1989 Edition

Series

Something Missing?
  • 1989 was the first release by Racing Champions Inc.
  • "Collector Series 1"
  • All initial released 1989 Series vehicles were packaged in what is known among collectors as "Flat Bottoms" which has NOTHING to do with the diecast vehicle at all, it is the clear blisterpack bubble, not having a center leg, where later issues would actually stand up on a flat surface, where a flat bottom would lean forward or fall over. ALL FLAT BOTTOM ISSUES Command Premium prices among collectors.
  • Initial release Nascar Driver collector cards did not have the drivers names across the top edge of card
  • On the back of the blisterpack Racing Champions had initially listed 21 driver names at the time of printing, however 3 names were later blanked out with a piece of white tape, for whatever reason (most likely legal)
  • The Rear of the card also shows Dale Earnhardt and his car setting on a black plastic "Racing Champions" display stand the label on the stand is actually a white background and done due to photographic issues with the chrome back ground label, a VERY small number of the White background bases exists.
