George started drag racing in the 1950s. In 1966, he was one of the racers picked by Ford to help develop the (then) new 427 cubic inch S.O.H.C. (Single OverHead Camshaft) engine, to this day, still one of the best engines Ford ever developed! He won classes at the 1966 & 1967 U. S. Nationals, and a class trophy at the 1967 Winter Nationals. At the tiime, he was using a 1933 Willys body. Ford approached him about using a more current body, imilar to what was in the dealers' showroom (The 'Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday' theme). In 1967, he built a new Mustang body on a Willys chassis known as the 'Malco Gasser'. The first time out, it ran in the 9 second range for the ¼ mile. It won him the Super Eliminator title at the Spring Nationals and at The Nationals in 1969.

In 1976, he debuted his last drag racing car, a 1974 Ford Pinto powered by a 2,000 cc turbocharged 4 cylinder engine making approximately 500 HP. He made his last run with the car at Indianapolis in September, 1985.

He earned several awards & is a number of different Halls of Fame. He also earned the NHRA Lifetime Achievement award.
