Ty Attic Treasures

Series

Something Missing?

The Attic Treasures collection debuted in 1993, featuring an initial lineup of 12 animals. These original designs were crafted by Linda Harris, Ruth Fraser, and Ty Warner. In 1994, new designs by Nola Hart began to be added to the collection. Attic Treasures have garnered a devoted following among collectors due to their nostalgic resemblance to the stuffed animals many recall from their childhood.

The first Attic Treasures were crafted with textured fur and typically included movable heads, arms, and legs. Many of these items were adorned with clothing and accessories, ranging from simple ribbons to sweaters, vests, jackets, and complete outfits, including hats. The original Attic Treasure collection was officially retired by the end of January 2003.

There are just under 240 distinct names in the original Attic Treasures lineup, but this does not limit the collection to only that many unique items. Ty produced numerous variations of these characters, adding layers of complexity to the collecting experience. An Attic Treasure with a specific name may come in various sizes, feature different clothing and accessories, or even differ in body colors or styles. Collectors aiming to acquire all the various types should be prepared for a collection of 450 or more.

From 1995 to 1998, the Attic Treasures were labeled as Ty Collectibles on their swing tags, but this designation reverted back to Attic Treasures with the introduction of the 7th generation swing tags.

On January 14, 2017, Ty submitted a trademark application for "Attic Treasures," indicating a potential re-launch of the product line. In March 2017, a well-known Ty retailer began pre-sales of various new Attic Treasures, and by April 2017, three new rabbit designs in two sizes each became available at Learning Express stores. Shortly thereafter, two versions of these new Attic Treasures were listed for sale on the Ty online store, marking the return of the Attic Treasures collection.

The newly introduced Attic Treasures from 2017 do not feature jointed or movable heads, arms, or legs.
